Community voices are voices that members of the TomTom community have recorded.
Note: This feature is not available on the following devices: GO 40, GO 50, GO 51, GO 60, GO 61, GO 400, GO 500, GO 600, Rider 400, Rider 40, GO 510, GO 610, GO 5000, GO 6000, GO 5100, GO 6100, Trucker 6000, START 40, START 50, START 60. How you install or remove voices depends on the program used by your device. Find the correct instructions by selecting one of the options below.

Latest version
To ensure you are using the latest version of MyDrive Connect, do the following:
Click the MyDrive Connect icon ( or or ) in the Windows notification area or Apple menu bar.
Click > Settings then select the About tab.
If a new version is available, you see a link saying A newer version is available. Click here to install the latest version.
Click the link to install the latest version of MyDrive Connect.
You need to have software version 10.200 or higher installed on your navigation device to use this feature. You can check the version on your navigation device. For instructions, see How do I find the device software and map versions?
A TomTom voice consists of 2 files, a .chk file
and a .vif file. You can also add an image to go with
your voice. In this case you should also upload a .bmp file.
To add a voice to your navigation device, follow these steps:
Connect your navigation device to your computer. Switch on your device.
Click the MyDrive Connect icon ( or ) in the Windows notification
area or Apple menu bar.
Click Manage community content.
A browser window opens:
Click Add voice.
Click Browse. You see a list of all files in
your selected folder.
Select the voice files (.chk, .vif
and optionally .bmp files) on your computer that
you want to put on your device.
Note: The file names of the .chk, .vif and
.bmp files must be identical.
Depending on your browser, you can select more than one file at
the same time by holding down the Ctrl key (or Command key on a
Mac) and selecting each of the files in turn.
Click Open. The webpage shows the selected
voice.
Click Install.
The voice set is copied to your navigation device.

Connect your navigation device to your computer. Switch on your device.

Click Remove next to the voice you want to
remove from your device. Make sure you remove the .chk, .vif and
.bmp files for the voice you want to remove.

To copy a voice to your computer, follow these steps:
Connect your navigation device to your computer. Switch on your device.
Click the MyDrive Connect icon ( or ) in the Windows notification
area or Apple menu bar.
Click Manage community content.
A browser window opens:
Click Copy to computer next to the voice file
on your device. A save to dialogue appears allowing you to specify
the location for your voice files. You need to copy the .chk, .vif
and .bmp file for the voice to your computer.
The voice files are copied from your device to your computer.
You may have to repeat this process to copy all the files you
need for a voice to your computer.

To share a voice with other TomTom users, follow these steps:

your device. A save to dialogue appears allowing you to specify the

may have to repeat this process to copy all the files you need for
a voice to your computer.
Email the voice files to your friends or post them on the internet
for sharing. Your friends can download the voice to their computer
and use Browse to add the voice to their navigation
device.
To remove a voice sets from your navigation device or computer, follow
these steps:
Connect your device to your computer and launch TomTom HOME.
Click Manage my device in the main menu in
HOME.
Items are shown in groups.
To select one or two items in a group, click the plus sign to expand
a group so you can see all the items in a group. Click the checkbox
next to an item to select that item.
To select all the items in a group, select the checkbox alongside
the group name.
Click the Items on device tab or the
Remove items from computer tab.
Select individual items or groups of items by selecting the
checkbox next to an item or group.
Note: Copy to Computer is not available for TomTom
NAVIGATOR
To copy one or more items from your TomTom navigation device to your
computer, follow these steps:
Connect your device to your computer and launch TomTom HOME.
Click Manage my device in the main menu in
HOME.
Items are shown in groups.
To select one or two items in a group, click the plus sign to expand
a group so you can see all the items in a group. Click the checkbox
next to an item to select that item.
To select all the items in a group, select the checkbox alongside
the group name.
Click the Items on device tab.
Select individual items or groups of items by selecting the
checkbox next to an item or group.
Click Copy items to computer.
The selected items will be copied to your computer. To see where
these items are saved on your computer, or to change the location, click
Folder Preferences in the TomTom HOME Preferences
on the Tools menu.
To share a voice with other TomTom users, follow these steps:
To share content in HOME, click Add Traffic, Voices,
Safety Cameras etc.
Click Add <item>.
Click How do I create my own content.
Click Share my content.
You can then share the selected item type.
Click Share next to an item to start sharing
that item.
You can click Browse... to select a file to share
using a file browser.
Tip: Click More info to
see a description of the item you are interested in sharing.
Enter the details about your item in the Share this <item>
page. The fields marked "*" are required fields.
Note: If your filename is not unique, HOME
asks you to change it. This updates the name of the file on
the device but NOT on your computer. You may wish to change
that filename yourself to keep the filename the same in all
three places (TomTom server, device, computer).
Tip: You can enter keywords to help other
users find your item using the Search box.
Click Share now.
After sharing this time, you will then be returned to the Share
my content page in case you want to share more items.
Tip: You are warned if you've already uploaded
the same item before and you then get the choice of replacing
it or not.

MyDrive Connect or TomTom HOME?
